Beginning of the Season Questions

When is the first night of practice for the 2018 season? When is the first night of practice for the 2018 season?
  • The first night of football conditioning and cheer camp will be on Monday, July 23, 2018.
This is the first year my child has played football. How will I know what team he will play for? This is the first year my child has played football. How will I know what team he will play for?
  • All new football players should attend the new player draft on DATE TO BE DETERMINED. The football draft will take place after coaches run the children through a few drills and players will be notified of their team color that day. **The only new football players who do not need to enter the draft are those with an older sibling playing football who has previously played Weebolts football. They will be automatically placed on the same color as their older sibling

  • Each child must bring with them a completed 2018 GCYC Physical form. First year football players must also bring a copy of their birth certificate.

  • Football players should wear a t-shirt, shorts and cleats. Cheer should wear t-shirt, shorts and gym shoes on the first night Each coach will give instruction on the first for future practices.

Equipment

What equipment do I need to buy for my football player? What equipment do I need to buy for my football player?
  • You will need to provide a mouthpiece, shoulder pads, non-metal football cleats, and an athletic support cup for your football player. The WeeBolts will check out to each football player a helmet, practice uniform, pants pads, and game day uniform. At the end of the season players will need to turn in checked out items. Players will get to keep their game day jersey which will have their name and number on it. In addition, there will be team specific fees which will be required from each football player for the purchase of team socks, end of year party items, homecoming parade supplies, etc. The Head Coach and Team Parent Rep will notify parents of this fee and what the fee covers during the first week of practice. Team specific fees are typically in the range of $75 -$100 per football player.
What equipment do I need to buy for my cheerleader? What equipment do I need to buy for my cheerleader?
  • Included in the registration fees for each cheerleader are a cheer camp t-shirt and cheer shoes. These items will not have to be returned at the end of the season. The Wee Bolts check out to each cheerleader a vest, skirt, pom-poms and a warm up jacket and pants. The checked out items will need to be turned in at the end of each season. Each cheerleader will also be required to pay an additional team specific fee to cover miscellaneous team specific items such as team socks, hair bows, etc. Cheer Coaches will notify cheerleader families during the first week of practice of the team specific fee and the details of what the fee covers. These team specific fees are typically around $100 per cheerleader

Important Dates

Besides practices and games, what other events (dates) do I need to be aware of? Besides practices and games, what other events (dates) do I need to be aware of?
  • Football players only are required by the GCYC (our governing league) to weigh in at the beginning of each season. This date is usually right before the season starts and can be found on the Calendar. Some other events that cheerleaders and football players need to plan for are: team pictures, homecoming parade, Wee Bolt Night at the high school football game, etc.

  • Your Team Mom & Coach will supply dates as soon as they can. Also, our calendar is updated continually with dates as we get them. You can subscribe to this calendar on your mobile device or tablet so you will get updates as soon as they happen. Get instructions to set up a calendar feed.

General Questions

What other costs should I expect in addition to the registration fee? What other costs should I expect in addition to the registration fee?
  • Each team has obligations during the season that require additional fees to be paid. Some of these items include (but are not limited to): Fish fry tickets, fish fry basket donations, end of the year party & coach trophies, parade decorations, etc. Each coach and team mom approach these costs differently and should be communicating this information with you as soon as the season gets started.
How old does my child have to be to play football or cheer for the Wee Bolts? How old does my child have to be to play football or cheer for the Wee Bolts?
  • Our teams are formed by grade level and children must be in grades 1-6 to participate in the Wee Bolt program.

  • All children must live in the boundaries of the Northmont City School District to participate in the Wee Bolts program.
If I still have to pay additional money, what does my registration fee cover? If I still have to pay additional money, what does my registration fee cover?
  • We have worked hard to keep our registration fee as low as possible and have not raised it in several years. Other items the Wee Bolts pay for during the year include: field rent, field maintenance, field utilities, insurance, helmet refurbishing, game day officials, game day uniforms, etc.
