2024 Information
Q:  What are the volunteer requirements?
A:  W
e are looking for help with things from in-person registration sessions, to field clean up days, equipment distribution, gamedays, etc.

Q: 
Who is required to volunteer?
A: 
Each family in the organization must supply 1 representative for a volunteer role.

Q: 
I'm a coach and already volunteer my time.  Will I be requested to add an additional volunteer spot?
A: 
No.

Q: 
What if I have multiple participants in the organization?
A: 
No additional volunteering will be expected based on additional participants. 

Q:  When will I get my $50 back?
A: Upon equipment/uniforms being returned to the Wee Bolts.

Q:  How will I know the availability of volunteer positions?
A:  The most efficient way will be with a sign up link on our Social Media pages (mainly Facebook) and/or www.weebolts.com and positions will be filled on a first come, first served basis.  We have a Volunteer Coordinator who will manage the process to help families keep track of availability and fulfillments.

Association Information
Q:  Who runs the Northmont Wee Bolts Football & Cheerleading Organization (Wee Bolts)?
A:  The Wee Bolts are run by a Board which is made up exclusively of volunteers.  Our Board consists of an Executive Board and a General Board of  volunteers.  In addition to the Wee Bolts Board, the Gem City Youth Conference (GCYC) is instrumental in assisting member organizations to be highly successful for our participants.

Q:  What Conference are the Wee Bolts a member of?
A:  The Wee Bolts are part of the Gem City Youth Conference.

Q:  Are there required fundraisers?
A:  Wee Bolts athletes are required to participate in one fundraiser per season to help keep our costs low for our families.  Teams often hold additional fundraisers to help cover individual team expenses that help with things like snacks, team socks, intro CD, end of season party, cheer undershirts, cheer briefs, poms, etc.


Registration
Q:  When is registration?
A:  Registration opens in January or February and runs through May 1 at 11:59 PM.

Q:  How do I register?
A:  Our website has a built in online registration program and all registrations are done electronically.  If you have specific questions regarding the registration process, please email them to [email protected].

Q:  Why do we have to register so early?
A:  We cannot plan out teams, assess equipment needs and focus our efforts until we know how many participants we will have.  The advantage to registering for football early is to obtain jersey numbers (returning players) on a high quality sublimated jersey, which football participants are able to keep at the end of the season.

Q:  What is covered in the registration fee?
A:  Registration fees for the Wee Bolts cover a magnitude of items including, but not limited to:  coaching certifications, insurance, uniform costs, equipment repair and maintenance, accessories, field maintenance, game officials, utilities and league fees.

Q:  Am I able to get a refund for registration fees if my athlete is no longer able to participate?
A:  Refunds must be requested via email to [email protected] prior to the first day of cheer camp or football practice.  The refund request must be from the account holder on the athlete's registration.  No refunds will be given after the 1st day of cheer camp or football practice.


Football Information
Q:  When does the football season start?
A:  Football season typically starts near the end of July. 

Q:  When does the football season end?
A:  The regular season typically ends in the middle of October with playoffs potentially going into the beginning of November.  Exact dates are not known until the GCYC releases the season schedule at the beginning of August.

Q:  How are football teams organized?
A:  Football teams are based on the participants current grade.  NEW participants are drafted to current teams after attending draft day (date TBA) and running through a short series of non-contact drills for evaluation.  Please email our Football Director with any specific questions.

Q:  When are games and where are they played?
A:  Games typically happen on Saturday's with an occasional Sunday game.  Home games are played at Randolph Stadium located at 515 N. Main St., Englewood, OH 45322.  Away games are at various locations in the Dayton area.  Information on GCYC member teams can be found by clicking here.

Q:  When and how often are practices?
A:  Practices occur in the early evening 3-4 times per week, depending on the coach's preference.  Practices are typically 90-120 minutes in duration.  Practices are held on the practice fields located at 515 N. Main St.

Q:  What should football players wear to practice?
A:  Coaches will inform players on what to wear to practice.  Some practices may be shorts and t-shirt only, while others may be in full pads.  The first week of conditioning will be shorts and t-shirt only.


Cheerleading Information
Q:  When does the cheerleading season start?
A:  Cheerleading season typically starts near the end of July.

Q:  When does the cheerleading season end?
A:  The regular season typically ends in the middle of October with playoffs potentially going into the beginning of November.  Exact dates are not known until the GCYC releases the season schedule at the beginning of August.

Q:  How are cheerleading squads organized?
A:  Cheerleading squads are based on the participants current grade.  Exceptions may be made on a case by case basis.  Please contact our Cheer Director with specific questions.

Q:  When are games and where are they played?

A:  Athletic shoes, shorts, and a t-shirt or tank top.  Parents should apply sunscreen and bug spray prior to camp or practice.


Equipment Information
Q:  What football equipment do the Wee Bolts provide to participants?
A:  The Wee Bolts provide a helmet, game pants, practice pants, knee pads, game jersey, and practice jersey.

Q:  What football equipment am I responsible to provide for my participant?
A:  Participants are responsible to provide a mouth guard (cannot be clear) that attaches to the facemask, shoulder pads, girdle, and cleats.


Coaching
Q: 
I would like to coach.  How do I get started?
A:  The Wee Bolts provide guidance to new coaches, so prior experience is not a requirement.  Please reach out to our Football or Cheerleading Directors with interest.

Q:  Do I need a background check if I'm just helping out every once in awhile?
A:  Yes, anyone who will have contact with participants on the field or during practices will need to complete a background check through our partner, National Center for Safety Initiatives (NCSI).  This includes board members, coaches, and team representatives.  The process is not difficult and is offered at no cost (using our discount code).
