Tornado Relief Donation

Youth sports are about so much more than winning and losing a game.  They are about training up young boys and girls to be the kind of men and women we need in our communities.  The iconic Fred Rogers of Mr. Rogers Neighborhood once said, "When I was a boy and I would see scary things in the news, my mother would say to me, look for the helpers.  You will always find people who are helping."

On Memorial Day of 2019, our communities were devastated by a record breaking 15 tornadoes.  The youth of our communities were certainly overcome with scary things in the news, but just like Mr. Rogers mother said there would be, if you looked around you could find many helpers.

Among those helpers were the young boys and girls pictured here.  In addition to days of collecting and handing out donations in various Trotwood neighborhoods, the Wee Bolt community made monetary donations and proudly presented the Trotwood Wee Rams organization with $1,000 to assist those still in need within their program.  We learned that 12 program participants were directly affected, 5 having significant loss and 2 experiencing total loss.  We recognize that $1,000 is only a drop in the bucket, but for coaches and parents, watching the youth of our organization become the helpers has been humbling and exciting.  May we all continue to join hands and help one another in our times of need.
